I love the sound of the guitar. No really, think about it. Listen to Django Reinhart play “Nuages” or Danny Gatton play “Quiet Village” or “Muthaship” from 88 Elmira Street or Duane Allman emotively rip through his solos on “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” and “Done Somebody Wrong” from Live at the Fillmore or George Harrison pick the intro to “Here Comes the Sun” or anything from H. R. is a Dirty Guitar Player or any of the session guitarists that played on the Steely Dan tunes or … Sorry, I got carried away. Oh yeh, what about Stevie Ray Vaughn! Sorry again. It’s all my older brother Bob’s fault. In 1973 while my 8th grade friends were listening to top 40 radio, he had me listening to Live at the Fillmore and Layla. There was no turning back. After playing air guitar through high school and college, I finally decided to take some lessons. I agree with Don on the songwriting thing. However, when the songs are good, I feel like I was just a medium for some higher power or something. This is This is my answer to a set tee time and/or Wednesday night bowling league. Kudos to Eric! Without him, Don and I are two middle-aged guys with a drum machine… or worse. |
